It's a scripting playground that lets you customize your workflow with code. It's a clip launcher that integrates seamlessly with supported hardware controllers. ![]() It's a composition tool that helps you to write beautiful melodies and complex polyrhythmic patterns. It's a sequencer that augments the capabilities of your host or DAW. We redesigned it from the ground up to incorporate a plethora of new features and workflows. Piano Roll 2 takes all the features you love about the first installment, and expands them into an entirely new breed of modular sequencer and clip launcher, unparalleled in flexibility and depth on iOS. Change colors, fonts, sizes… make it yours! Build your own styling with custom layouts and themes. Write your own code, share it with the community! You can control hardware devices, adding support for new controllers or completely changing the behavior of existing ones. Step input, or record as played, all with perfect timing accuracy. Play the whole sequence, or adjust the loop markers to iterate over a single section. Not supported by GarageBand.īuild live sets for clip launching, or an entire track with unlimited length. Tested hosts: ApeMatrix, Audiobus, BeatMaker, Cubasis, MTS, Zenbeats. Special integration with hosts: AUM and Drambo. Hardware integration with controllers requires iCloud Drive. To make sound you'll have to feed the MIDI into a synthesizer or instrument app. This plugin does not run as a standalone app and requires a compatible host. The most advanced AUv3 MIDI note editor, modular sequencer and clip launcher on iOS. Reached #1 on the App Store in the Top Paid Music App Category. But I’ll defend this model: it means you can try the app itself for free to see if you like it, then invest roughly the cost of what a standalone app might be.Now with MPE, sustain, pitch, mod, automation recording, and 16 channels in a single instance! MIDI functionality is a US$8 in-app purchase. And it could change the way you work on the go. Separate story.īottom line: Auxy without MIDI was a pretty example of good design. And, this isn’t the only MIDI iPad… ahem. Of course, now that we’re using Auxy, we’ll probably find other stuff for them to add, but I say bring it on. On the other hand, the mobility of the iPad makes it perfectly suited to doing this sort of hardware sequencing elsewhere – for those of us who can’t afford an extra rack of sequencing gear. Now, by the time you’ve bought all that, you might wonder why you didn’t keep spending money on a hardware sequencer. To celebrate the release, Auxy also have a video hands-on called “Auxy loves analog.” Swedish producer combines Auxy with a drool-worthy studio containing a Dave Smith Tempest drum machine, Moog Minimoog Voyager, Eurorack modular, and Virus Indigo. Triplets and 1/32 notes are here, too, so Auxy progresses beyond the musical education level of a toddler (or, okay, some of us adults when we’re making techno – ahem). It’s a good thing they’ve added other features, too. Seriously, as predicted, I haven’t felt the need to pick up Auxy since it came out. ![]() On the other hand, MIDI files can be imported into Live – and into tools like Maschine or Renoise, as well.) (I should note, this is MIDI file export – not native Ableton Live ALS files, which would be an obvious next step for Auxy, following in the footsteps of KORG. I can imagine using this on the go to sketch quick ideas, then to drop them as clips in an Ableton Live session for later use. Or, using a hardware interface, you can connect to outboard hardware. Now, Auxy is an island no more.įirst, you can use it to send MIDI. That changes with the release this week of MIDI functionality. An overly-simple island, it was something beautiful … that you might never use. It seemed a perfect way to sketch musical patterns on the go, but it didn’t have MIDI export so you could use those sketches with other tools. It was the perfect app for making patterns for other apps and hardware, but it didn’t have the ability to connect to them. ![]() There was just one problem, a big one: you were limited to the very basic built-in sounds. Using a clean, piano roll-style graphical interface, it was finally a demonstration that you could make a music app for editing notes that felt native to a touch environment. Auxy already demonstrated that a stripped-down app could provide an elegant way to simply produce musical patterns. From a design standpoint, it was beautiful. ![]() ![]()
![]() Nobody's outraged or saying that we should all march on the publisher and demand they lower the price, but it's reasonable and normal to comment on it and I'm baffled why this bothers you based on the idea that eventually it will drop in price so we should never care about the prices of video games and not talk about whether or when we plan to buy them but instead just discuss.I don't know what exactly is in bounds because I don't know why price wouldn't be. Based on this thread a lot of people clearly care about the price here. ![]() The first thing you do when you see that there's a new game announced is ask yourself "Do I want to buy this?" And part of that is going to be the price. I don't know why you're bothered at all by people talking about price. That's why Sega put out everybody's least favorite Monkey Ball on next gen platforms. ![]() Publishers never put unreasonable expectations on games or make assumptions about what might sell or not based on a bad version of the product fans want. More options is always better for the consumer, if the alternative is that you'd have to buy a console to play KH, or that you'd need a functional PS2 to play Dark Alliance, then the price doesn't seem that For sure. For the older fans, the latest release provides a much-needed drink of water after a long drought. Considering that Baldurs Gate 3 sold over a million copies six days after its release on Steam, a new generation discovered its brilliance. The same goes for things like the PC port of Kingdom Hearts, who cares what is costs as long as it gets made, you always wait for the price to drop if it's too much for you. Baldurs Gate is a groundbreaking series that has its roots in the earliest days of PC gaming. If they couldn't charge $30 for it then likely it would not have been made. ![]() There are folks out there for whom the price is not an issue, let them pay for the work it takes to develop this port and let the rest of us enjoy it later. There's a lot of great games lost to time from an era where backwards compatibility didn't exist, and not so great games that regardless deserve to be remembered and made accessible. It's a port of a game that nobody knew they wanted, and if they've waited 20 years for it then surely they can wait 6 more months for a sale, and there's a good chance it'll be on Game Pass / PS Plus / Humble Bundle / Epic Store giveaway for free in about a year. Quite honestly I don't see the point of complaining about the price. ![]() ![]() ![]()
